Carrion Crabby

Ah, Sanderlings. As you might have noticed, I can't seem to get bored with them, and any brief wander down to the beach in winter stands a fair chance of turning into a wet-kneed communion with them. With plenty of storms and heavy currents of late, there's been a lot of detritus along the shoreline, some of it (ex-) marine life, including crabs. Sanderlings clearly have a taste for them, and I found birds fiercely guarding a claw or a shell from others in their group, which made for another memorable session with them just a few minutes from the front door.
